| LHM-South Africa Volunteer Requests Prayers for Desperate Zimbabweans
St. Louis, MO, Dec. 22, 2008 Royce Makonye, a volunteer working with Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM)-South Africa, has spent the last 18 months risking much to deliver hope through the Gospel to his community in neighboring Zimbabwe. Even though he earns a relatively decent salary as a schoolteacher in the mining town of Kwekwe, his family can only afford to eat porridge at every meal.
This is often the sad reality for the many Zimbabweans who have not fled the country for their own political and economic survival. But over the past several months, living conditions have continued to deteriorate beyond even the substandard quality of life that many in the country are accustomed to.
